Habituate

distinguishable dance music only!

Category Archives: digital release

Some truly colorful production from Colors Sound System, these sounds are being transmitted out of Brazil. Off the top of my head, I do not know of any dance music producers from Brazil that have impressed me, these cats definitely do. This one is pressed on a heavyweight vinyl and is on the catalog of a truly well rounded label, check out Lovemonk for everything from rock to disco. Side not, I think that is how a label should be, diverse!

Kosta Ellis, a brother from another Greek mother, presents the re-edit work of British “Chewy Rubs” on his label Superbreak. In my humble opinion this is the benchmark for what a good edit is. Pure re-arranging and EQ tweaking to squeeze every last ounce of boogie and funk out of a track, splicing and looping to whip up a frenzy. A good re-editor only needs those tools, no special effects, silly drawn out breaks or drops. Look out for more of Chewy Rubs here.

Listen to more edits on this release and buy here.

Leftwing and Kody hail from London, England, a hot spot for the resurgence of the 90’s house sound at the moment. They let us know here at Habituate that they have been at work for 3 years together, working on fine tuning their deep underground sound. The work has paid off, with a release on OFF Recordings and now Alive.

Forthcoming digital release only, buy it here once it is released!

Cosmic Boogie is at the top of my list when it comes to edits and now his label Boogie Originals sees some of the most interesting original content from the likes of Andy Ash, Deep Space Orchestra, Toby Tobias, Cosmic Boogie himself and more.

The Naiad being a mythical see nymph creature it only would make sense that this EP be a deep dive exploration. The Jacques Renault mix of “The Naiad” and and Little Creatures’ “Barefoot” are definitely the stand out on this EP. Look out for this dropping very very soon, vinyl first digital later.

Taylor Freels, aka Urulu and less commonly known as Lawrence Black, hails from La Mirada, California. I personally had the pleasure of meeting the young producer at the last warehouse party I threw in Long Beach, CA. Taylor originally cut his teeth in the beat scene and immersed himself in music by creating Rebel, an online music source. He just only recently made the transition to the deep house world but is definitely sending out shock waves. Look out for more and keep in touch here.
